In a special programming note, two significant political events occur tonight. First is the New Hampshire Republican debate that’s supposedly going to focus heavily on the economy. Most of the candidates have been avoiding the topic presumably due to lack of any real solutions to contribute. The debate is hosted by Bloomberg and the Washington Post and will be simulcast on Bloomberg News and the Post’s website.
Romney leads in the polls in New Hampshire and Chris Christie is expected to endorse him. Cain is closing the gap and has a chance to do very well tonight.
Also tonight, the President’s jobs bill will go through its first procedural vote in the Senate. That means they’ll vote on whether to vote on it or not. This is a 60 seat hurdle and Republicans (of course) are expected to filibuster.
