Never Talk About Fight Club

Newt Gingrich

So I think the Newt Gingrich government shutdown of 1994 is on again. There’s just no one talking about it. The Republicans are trying to usurp the elected government by not cooperating with it. I think I’d much rather come to fisticuffs than endure this deadlock. It’s like the secret backroom deal taking place. We all show up the next day having the shit kicked out of us and act as if nothing ever happened.

Maybe stuff went down. Maybe we play by the rules. Or maybe we just want to watch the place burn. All I know is the Republicans refuse to cooperate. Their obstructionism is so obvious now that a blind man could see it. All that’s left is the admission.

It’s like ‘Fight Club’. There’s no reason to it, just a thrashing of fists. The bleeding wounds of a conservative beat down. If we can’t have our way then you can’t either. The Republican dogma has bourne theTea Party and ultimately; its own demise. They have transcended their dogma and are wallowing in their own political eulogy.

The Republican/Tea Party may think they’re fighting the good fight by resisting every policy the Democrats put forth but in reality they’re just hurting us all. They’d rather watch the house burn to the ground than give up ownership. The President is right in trying to bridge the gap with Republicans. We are all in this together. Republicans need to learn how to play well with others.

We need to talk about stuff. We need governance. We need communication. How hard can it be?

The current sore loser teabaggers er Rep party wants to conquer and rule, not govern. It’s that basic.

  2. shortchain says:

Fisticuffs? No. Civilized people should avoid the use of physical violence. For my part, I think we should use “sarcasm.” … “all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, bathos, puns, parody, litotes and… satire”

To rule and control Congress is the only means to achieve change – in America and the world. How does the Fed Reserve fit into all this? Couldn’t Congress vote to eliminate the Fed and replace it entirely by our own Treasury issue, thus taking control of the Banking system? As long as the Fed fulfills its mandate to protect the Banking System, we will remain in this stalemate.

Obama will be free to sign off on the agenda of the new GOP Congress and negotiate the scope of the reduction of government.Somehow I suspect that the only obstruction of the will of the voters this fall will be coming from Obama and the Dems.

  5. shortchain says:

It’s one of Bart’s peculiar delusions that he somehow can discern the instantaneous and unitary “will of the voters”.My guess is that the voters will speak with many voices, and send, as their representatives, hundreds of people with widely varying concepts as to the secret and unvoiced (as well as the shrieked) desires of their constituents.Anybody want the other side of that bet? (For Bart: that would be that not only would the voters send more than 230 Republicans to the House, but also a majority of Republicans to the Senate — and that the representatives elected would agree on what that means.)

  6. shrinkers says:

Somehow I suspect that the only obstruction of the will of the voters this fall will be coming from Obama and the Dems.Well, it is their turn. The Republicans have been doing it for the last two years.

My guess is that the voters will speak with many voices, and send, as their representatives, hundreds of people with widely varying concepts as to the secret and unvoiced (as well as the shrieked) desires of their constituents.Wait wait wait wait … there is more than one voter? And they have more than one opinion? And will elect more than one person?Oh. My. God. You’d think our government was a representative republican democracy. Who would have thought that?
