Ian who? Remember the prank call that made Governor Scott Walker spill the true motives behind his ‘budget’ bill? Ian Murphy was the guy impersonating David Koch on the other end of that call. Murphy is an unashamedly contentious journalist who has written for the Daily Beast and AlterNet. He is currently the editor of the Buffalo Beast.
Murphy just announced that he will be running for New York’s 26th District as a Green Party candidate. You may recall that this is the seat rapidly vacated by Craigslist transgender troller, Chris Lee.
I don’t have much of a read on Murphy’s chances and there isn’t a lot of information available yet about his background but a few things come to mind. Green Party candidates historically do not fare well against your standard Republican and Democratic candidates. And Murphy is not terribly telegenic. He appears more comfortable writing than speaking on camera. His articles are also a bit over the top (example; his 2008 editorial “Fuck the Troops” drew a lot of conservative ire). The combination of these things isn’t likely to endear him to voters.
You can check out his policy issues at his campaign website. It’s worth a look just to see his photoshopped head on Chris Lee’s body.

Makes me wish I lived in that district. I’d vote for him just because of his call to Snot Walker.
And WTG for running as a third party candidate! We need more to do this.
