Joint statement from Majority Leader Reid and Speaker Boehner.

  2. GROG says:

Republicans wanted to cut two weeks worth of deficit spending. Democrats wanted to cut zero. They agreed to cut one whole week worth of deficit spending and both sides are taking credit. In the meantime the federal debt keeps going up and up and up. These are some insane fiscal times we live in.

You don’t seem to understand the degree of difficulty of governing under our Constitution.

If you and Mule and rgb and friends want an all or nothing government, you need to move to a country with a parliamentary system. There, assuming you can get a single party majority, you can pass whatever legislation you want! Don’t like what the last government did? (notice we refer to them as ‘governments’ under that system, as opposed to ‘administrations’ under ours) Pass new legislation that suits you! Only problem is you only got a few years, assuming there is not a no-confidence vote that topples you and a new election held in short order!

You don’t understand that there is NOT some father-figure government (in spite of you ideological beliefs) that pulled strings and passed all the Laws that created the spending we have today. Or, for that matter, cut back all the revenue streams over the past 30 years. BOTH of which created the debt situation in which we find ourselves. It was done at the behest and approval of the American People in election after election. It’s what We the People wanted.

Which is it? Do you want a representative that votes what their constituents want? Or do you want a representative that votes what is best for the COUNTRY? Y’all seem a bit conflicted on that issue. Most all the time you have seemed to desire the former, particularly in conservative districts. But NOW, all of a sudden, you seem to desire the latter!

You are implying you want “responsible” actions on the part of our elected officials. You forget that they, 99.9% of the time, reflect their constituency!

Them there TPers sound just like them FDLer’s did last year.

So BOTH extreme are pissed now.

    Whatever WILL they do?
