Free Forum Friday May 6th Edition

Not much happening this week.

Well, there was that bin Laden thing. For only the third time in a century the New York Times physically stopped the presses to publish a new front page notice on the death of Osama bin Laden. We’ve been talking pretty much non-stop about it since then in every media outlet.

As the details have unfolded we’ve learned that the US government has been looking for bin Laden for quite some time. We’ve come to question whether Pakistan had knowledge of bin Laden’s whereabouts. We’ve seen Americans enjoy a catharsis due to bin Laden’s death. We’ve observed the end of not taking President Obama’s leadership seriously. We’ll be talking about this event for some time.

But it’s Friday and that means it’s time for you to talk. What do you think about last week?

Free Forum Fridays are an open discussion where commenters are invited to bring up topics that may not have been covered in the previous week. Got something on your mind? Throw your opinion out there.

Would anyone care to comment on the debate last night? My favorite quote so far:
“What kind of circus has only clowns?”

Herman Cain is all the rage on conservative blogs after the debate. Personally, I thought Pawlenty had a strong performance. His challenge was to display some general debate/personal skills to show he can go toe to toe with Romney/Huckabee/Gingrich. I thought he did that. Otherwise, Ron Paul was standard. Gary Johnson somehow can’t translate 2 term governor into anything more than being Ron Paul’s kookier alter-ego. Thought Santorum was strong in spots, weaker in others—generally helped himself though.

I didn’t watch the debate. There was some interesting paint drying on my house I wanted to see. But I heard Herman Cain came out the clear winner. I look forward to his contender series post.
