The Week of Distraction

We the Tea Party

A couple of things. Why are we paying attention to Sarah Palin? Jon Stewart and Colbert pretty much nailed it the other night. Sarah Palin is embarking on a family vacation in an RV plastered with a bunch of ‘God Bless America’ bullshit on the side and the media is falling all over themselves to promote it. She won’t even talk to reporters about her itinerary or her political intentions, well except to Greta Van something-or-other from Fox. The real story? Why is the media following this Donald Trump fake fiasco?

The other non-event: Rep. Anthony Wiener is under attack for a tweet that was sent in his Twitter account to a college girl in Seattle. He says his account has been hacked; which is plausible. But the right wing is ready to declare this a Chris Lee event and have Wiener ejected. This smells of a James O’Keefe plot designed to distract from Wiener’s efforts to get Justice Thomas to recuse himself from any Health Care legislation due to his wife’s conflict of interest. You’ll recall that O’Keefe is the fake pimp that took down ACORN under false pretense.

And the political world feels like a tabloid.
