This week the brinksmanship intensified as Republicans walked out of deficit talks and Democrats finally put forth the suggestion that Republicans are knowingly trying to crash the economy in order to defeat Obama. Some scholarly types are now saying that not paying the nation’s debts is unconstitutional per the 14th Amendment. President Obama held a press conference telling the Congress to ‘git ‘er done’, referring to the deficit/debt/budget problem.
Republicans are also planning to not let Congress recess in order to block President Obama from making any recess appointments of cabinet members. Harry Reid said, ‘Fine. You want to call no recess then we are all going to stay in town and work through the 4th of July’. There is already talk of radical options to bypass the obstructionism but such actions could look tyrannical to Republican voters serving only to whip the Tea Party into a frenzy.
In lighter news, Glenn Beck signs off of Fox (finally) and a bill to decriminalize marijuana at the Federal level is introduced by Barney Frank and Ron Paul.
