A couple of elections are taking place today. Polls have closed in New York’s 9th District formerly held by sexting Senator Anthony Weiner. Dave Weperin is the Democratic candidate running for his seat. Many people thought this was a lock since NY-9 hasn’t gone Republican since 1920. But it looks like Weprin is a weak candidate and the district could flip tonight. Bob Turner (producer of the Jerry Springer Show) looks to be leading.
In Nevada, Democrat Kate Marshall is trying to win the seat vacated by Dean Heller who was appointed to fill philanderer John Ensign‘s seat. It’s a heavily Republican district and she isn’t expected to win. Polls have just closed so we’ll have to wait until tomorrow for the results.
In Massachusetts Elizabeth Warren has decided to challenge Scott Brown for his Senate seat. Brown was elected to fill in for the late Ted Kennedy. Warren is a firebrand candidate who was rejected by Republicans to head the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. She has been goaded into running for the Senate by popular demand.
