Well, another hostage taking week in politics. Surprise, surprise. The House Republicans shot down a bi-partisan Senate bill that would guarantee an extension of unemployment benefits and a payroll tax cut set to expire at the end of the year. Speaker Beohner, with egg on his orange face, had to do some last minute maneuvering in order to save face for the Republican party. Neither came away favourably.
But, it appears to have worked out in favour of the 160 million working Americans and the people on unemployment; for now. We’ll be having this conversation in February again.
