(Free Forum Fridays are an open discussion where commenters are invited to bring up topics that may not have been covered in the previous week. Got something on your mind? Throw your opinion out there.)
Free Forum Fridays are generally meant for non-political news. It’s just hard to keep political news out of the spotlight these days.
The Republican field has narrowed to four players. They’ve had a couple of debates. Newt Gingrich seemed to be coming out on top but lately Romney has been stabilizing the race. Florida portends to be a race breaker.
Gabrielle Giffords stood down from Congress the day after President Obama’s State of the Union address. There was not a dry eye in the House (or anywhere else for that matter). Good luck Gabby. Go, Gabby, go! And come back when you can. We’ll leave the light on for you.
Republican of the year: Jeff Flake of Arizona. Thanks for standing with Gabby.
James Farentino died this week. He was an actor in a sci-fi favourite, ‘The Final Countdown‘ with Martin Sheen and Kirk Douglas. He did a bunch of TV drama roles as well. He was 73. Robert Hegyes, who played Epstein on Welcome Back Kotter also passed away at 60.
The TV show ‘Chuck’ will also end this week. It has been near cancellation many times and always resurrected by fans.
Other than that, it’s been all politics as the Florida primary draws near. Miss anything? Make a comment.
