FIRST!It’ll be great having Keith back. But I’ve never doubted his return. In the same way, Russ Feingold isn’t out of business, either. He’ll be back.

  2. mclever says:

I never thought Keith would be gone for long. The whole stunt was likely intended to remind him that he actually has a boss, and that he can’t go around pretending like he doesn’t. (He’s made some jokes in that regard. No, I don’t have a link handy.)Hey, I wouldn’t be surprised if Keith’s viewership goes UP as a result of this!

  3. shortchain says:

OT, but I’d like to get this in where Bart will be sure to see it: the defections have already begun. He needs to get his foot-irons in the fire.My own bet is that the teapers will acquiesce to their loss of relevance with a whimper, or perhaps even with a sigh, given that their primary motivation appears to be schadenfreude, and they’ve milked that, electorally, as far as they can until 2012.

  4. shortchain says:

OK, I closed the damn tag. .

  5. shortchain says:

Ooops. Try it again. This time I closed both the tag and the quotation marks. Are we going to get a “preview/edit” any time soon? And a “delete my comment” would be good, too…for those of us who are, well, human.

  6. filistro says:

@shortchain Are we going to get a “preview/edit” any time soon? It looks like we are on the verge of getting a whole awesome new home, with more bells and whistles than an arcade.Really exciting.Watch This Space! πŸ™‚

  7. shrinkers says:

On topic –Cool fact: Over 300,000 people signed the petition to get Keith back on the air.

  8. shrinkers says:

@shortchainI’d guess Bart’s reaction is going to be that as long as Rubio votes to repeal PPACA, cancel unspent ARRA funds, and otherwise gut the Obama agenda (i.e., the things the public overwhelmingly elected Obama to do in 2008), he’s not going to care whom Rubio identifies with. Being a Republican in the Senate, Bart would fully expect Rubio to follow the party line like a faithful little lemming. The rest of us can chuckle at the gullibility of Teapers, and the way power-hungry plutocrats use them to get elected. But it will be interesting to see if they become as anxious to primary Rubio out of the party in six years the way they are with their former darling, Scott “The Traitor” Brown (f.k.a. Scott “The One” Brown”).It will also be interesting to see how Murkowski votes, after having been royally screwed by her party, now being loudly condemned by the Teapers, and her promising to be independent and to vote her conscious. Between her and the Senators from Maine, I don’t know if the Republicans can count on the lockstep mindless monolith they’re gotten used to.By the way, has anyone pointed out, there is not a single Black Senator currently? Just sayin’.

  9. shiloh says:

“delete my comment”If for no other reason than it drives anal retentive Bartles totally “bat shit crazy” every time he screws up one of his spinmeister diatribes B) “we” should not have a delete option. :)solo estoy diciendoRe: MSNBC’s new ownership’s power play. The emperor has no clothes … πŸ˜€

  10. mclever says:

@ shrinkersCool fact: Over 300,000 people signed the petition to get Keith back on the air.Back in the day when people had to use a stamp to mail their opinions to the network execs, there used to be a rule of thumb that every letter represented at least 20 people with the same opinion.I wonder how much the ability to post freely and frequently via the Internet has changed that arithmetic. It seems to me that it would be more like 1:5 than 1:20.

  11. Mainer says:

Probably at least 1:5 as many will not give out the information that was required on the petition.I think in some ways this was a test. New management is new management and they are going to throw down a few gauntlets regardless. Was this an effort to stiffle a progressive voice, maybe but why take the chance. Way too few as it is. The Republican the liberal media is out to get us tactic having worked so well that now they control the air waves or have cowed the media to the point where no one will challenge even the most blatant lies and disinformation. It looks like the Regressives pulled this election off by riding the>60-65 crowd. I would love to see just how well their propagnda machine did with the elderly. I know many of them around here voted Republican thinking it was the Republicans that were protecting them. Now that is some message control.Lets see they gained with the gay community, old people and a good friend says the unemployed. I have to find that exit polling. Oh and women. So I guess to gain supporters one must put the screws to them first. I have to learn how to put in url’s can one just cut and paste?

  12. Mr. Universe says:

I have friend from Oklahoma whose relatives said they weren’t supporting Obama because he took the TV away (referring to the digital switchover). There are people who will believe anything they’re told

  13. Mainer says:

And there are others just as eager to spread false information if they think it gains them any thing…..any thing. Sad thing is the ones that have bought into that crap will never beleive any thing else because to do so would mean admitting they were played the sucker and most folks have a hard time admitting some thing like that so they will stick with those that have already screwed them and will screw them over again……kind of like that battered wife thing.

  14. shiloh says:

I wonder how much the ability to post freely and frequently via the Internet has changed that arithmetic. It seems to me that it would be more like 1:5 than 1:20.Bottom line are Keith’s ratings. The peeps who watch him care. The peeps who don’t watch him er mclever, who also don’t like him, still somewhat care. This ad nauseam, spiked by 24/7 cable news media/internet story will slightly amuse Olbermann and then he will quickly move on w/what his liberal fans watch him for ie sarcastic (((truth))). He was entertaining and truthful as a sportscaster and now as a political pundit.Like Limbaugh, Ingraham, Savage, Dr. Laura, Larson, Hannity, Billo, Beck, Rachel, O’Donnell etc. etc. he caters to his audience quite nicely, eh.>The hypocrisy re: political tv pundits making campaign contributions or fixednoise being totally owned by the Rep party notwithstanding …carry on

  15. Mainer says:

Hey what is known of this bold progressives group that went with the Olberman petition? I’m guessing they are big winners here. They just picked up a very detailed and targeted mailing list.

  16. mclever says:

@shiloh,You’re right. I don’t watch Keith! But I’m not overly surprised at the path his “suspension” has taken. I would have bet that he’d be back this week with or without the big bring-em-back petition.Oh, and I totally agree with you regarding the hypocrisy, but I’m not sure whether the Republicans own Fox or whether Fox owns the Republicans… πŸ˜‰

  17. shortchain says:

mclever,Oh, it’s been conclusively demonstrated that Fox owns the GOP, but ownership doesn’t preclude a parasitic symbiosis…It’s rather like the relationship between cats, rats, and toxoplasmosis. The organism drives the rats that ingest it nuts, so that they’re attracted to cats, who eat the rats, and cats then harbor the organism until it is broadcast (the usual way), where it can be ingested by rats. It’s all part of the great circle of life.

Update per Olbermann:Olbermann was suspended w/out a hearing, hmm shades of Shirley Sherrod …and was not asked to give a mea culpa.>>>“A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”
